Sixty West Funds Principal Jason Cordon will speak at the UGA Terry College of Business next week.
Mr.Cordon was invited to speak on behalf of Matt Roessing, Lecturer in Legal Studies, and will present on his current work in tax-incentivized development and his pioneering work in recently designated Opportunity Zone Funds.
In 2016, Mr. Cordon co-founded Kowan & Cordon, LLP, a boutique law firm specializing in federal, state, and international tax; private equity; and business planning. His practice involved advising both U.S. and foreign clients regarding the international, federal, and state tax aspects of a variety of corporate and partnership transactions, including mergers, stock and asset acquisitions, dispositions, spin-offs, and restructuring. He also provided counsel regarding the formation of, and investment in, a variety of private equity and other investment funds, including major corporate venture capital, tax credit, and real estate transactions.
A significant portion of Mr. Cordon’s legal practice was concentrated on the representation of investors, developers, and syndicators nationwide in connection with tax-incentivized investments, including, low income housing tax credits, entertainment/film tax credits, and other state-specific credits.
In addition to his legal experience, Mr. Cordon has over 10 years of real estate development experience involving subdivision development, historic rehabilitations, and commercial development. To date, Mr. Cordon has been involved in the development of over $100 million of commercial real estate.
